In The Shadow of Shadow – Walk

In The Shadow of Shadow – Walk

(Part 1: WALK SCREENING)

A public walk from George Square to the Barras market bringing contributions from researchers, activists and artists in a form of live critical praxis. Strickland Distribution includes writer Neil Gray, editor of Variant Leigh French and artist and programmer Simon Yuill, who may all be asking us: what does critical urban praxis look like?

Read

Local writers, artists, activists and academics will use the walk to highlight Glasgow’s dubious drive for gentrification and raise fears about the consequences this drive holds.

Ultra-red make sound recordings of sites of struggle and contest, so they can be used and analysed later in an activist/ artistic process; they’ll record the walk and sites we visit, as the starting point for collective discussions the following Sunday.

Followed by a screening from Document’s archive of “Drumchapel – The Frustration Game” (20 mins, de-classed elements, 1989) and discussion (time: 4–7pm approx.) in Laurie’s Bar, 34-36 King Street, Glasgow, G1 5QT (view map)
