Dr Gabrielle Hodge shares words on Touching the Future, a Protactile project with John Lee Clark, Soline Vennetier, Issy McGrath, Lisa van der Mark, Kyle Bettley and Jordan Goldman, supported by Arika, kickstarting radical DeafBlind Protactile world-building in Glasgow.
Out of a dark haze, shafts of light emerge, as the emulsion is scratched from the surface of the film. Simultaneously, out of the black silence, noise and audible scratches bloom into a bright drone.
Taking a scalpel to the relationship between performer and audience: cutting something out to see what’s left, a drastic subtraction and shift of emphasis.
