#untitled lipsync 2

The mutability of the body and the mobility of identity: queered pop culture, drag, lip-sync and performance.

Read

What we wrote about it at the time: boychild’s lip-sync drag performances re-appropriate fashion, Butoh or mainstream hetero-pop, not to sing it but to change its meaning completely. As a startling re-imagining of performance and pop-culture, they locate the body as a site for the negotiation of sexuality and blackness, in all its messiness, mobility and excess. This was the second of three performances at the Episode.
