Haxan: Witchcraft Through the Ages
Haxan: Witchcraft Through the Ages
What we wrote about them at the time…
An extremely rare chance to hear the beautiful, impressionistic drone duo of Andrew Chalk and Christoph Heemann. Enthralling, ever shifting, glassine drones and mercurial tonalities, underpinned by unnerving muffled references to the chorus of bells, gongs, singing bowls, guitar and prepared piano that they wield. With pressings of at best 1000 copies, theirs is a cult following within the arena of experimental music. Phantom Engineer re-route divergent strands such as acid rock, country blues and early Industrial tonefloat via an aesthetic that is homemade and deeply punk. We’ve commissioned them to work with Mirror on an improvised and once only soundtrack to Benjamin Christensen’s 1922 staggering horror film prototype, Haxan: Witchcraft through the Ages.
