Christian Fennesz is a classically trained Austrian guitarist who specialises in a warm digital deconstruction of guitar noise, by processing his playing through his laptop. The end results are popping edits of different layers of guitar sound that form melodic if wholly distorted chords, augmented by beautiful gritty and crunchy electronic static. Although approaching his music from a theoretical standpoint, constantly pushing ideas and themes: of dissonance and melody, structure and arrhythmia, analogue and digital, what makes Christian stand out is that his work is always approachable, it always sounds personal.
