Cyclo
Cyclo
What we wrote about them at the time…
Two figureheads of the minimalist electronica pulse, Ikeda and Nicolai have been responsible for some of the most innovative and ground-breaking music of the last decade, redefining experimental electronica. Ryoji’s devastating sense of timing and punk sine wave aggression, and Carsten’s brutal rhythmic sense and joy for sound make them sound and digital artists of international repute. There will also be a new site specific installation devised in residency at DCA as an extension of their previously audio only project, running for the duration of the festival.
During their time at DCA for Kill Your Timid Notion in 2003, Nikolai and Ikeda created cyclo.sonotecture; a screenprint originating from images collected during their installation and live performance using real-time sound visualisation. The resulting print captures, in a highly subtle way, this event. Using close tonal variations of matt and pearlised inks, they created an elusive and shifting image that explores the boundaries of our sensory perceptions. The edition is still available for purchase here.
