They sort of strive constantly to discover the exact point at which sound resonates the clearest: in Glasgow using wind instruments (maybe a flute, a trombone) they’ll place sounds with great care into a calm and ordered hush, drawing you in, asking you to concentrate, to listen. Theirs is a music that doesn’t leap out for attention, but simply needs to exist in the world, kind of like it’s simply also present in our lives: you can choose to come to it, or not. We’ve set up a separate space at INSTAL so that Antoine, Radu and Manfred can present their work in a sympathetic setting, somewhere relaxed, informal; where you can choose to spend some time and also be present with their work. They’ll perform there over the whole festival, play chess, have a chat, pull in some other musicians from the event to collaborate. We won’t announce what’ll happen, just take it as read that something will always be going on. They were also joined by Rhodri Davies and Robin Hayward.
