Against the Crisis: Economy and Ecology in a Burning World

Against the Crisis: Economy and Ecology in a Burning World

Join Ståle Holgerson to discuss his new book Against the Crisis, hosted by Glasgow Housing Struggle Archive.

“The most clarifying dissection of ‘crisis’ as concept and reality to appear in several decades, at the least. As we lurch from one crisis to another, this will be essential reading.”

— Andreas Malm, coauthor of Overshoot: How the World Surrendered to Climate Breakdown

The nature of today’s economic and ecological crises demonstrate that they are not exceptions to a functioning system but rather they are the norm: crises are essential to the functioning of capitalism. If capitalism produces crises and crises reproduce capitalism, we need an ecosocialist way out. Ståle Holgerson explores these issues in his new book, published by Verso, Against The Crisis, offering a sharp analysis of the crisis paradigm, challenging assumptions around capitalism and ecological collapse and political alternatives.

This event is hosted by Glasgow Housing Struggle Archive and supported by Arika through our Local Organising programme.
