WHO

An international collective of activists, community organisers and artists who urgently probe at one of the limit cases of music (and art); how to mobilise the tools of art in a move from individual self-expression to productive collectivity, investigation and action.

PROPOSAL

Is it useful to think of political struggles in terms of the cultural or artistic? Instead of music as organised sound, how is it productive to think of organised listening? What is the sound of community organising?

WHY MIGHT I GET SOMETHING OUT OF THIS?

We started working with Ultra-red (and colleagues across Dundee) in December to try and find useful ways for KYTN to expand productively out into the city and for the city to expand productively into KYTN, to create spaces where a combined investigation of community organising and sound art can merge. This will carry on during and after KYTN, and will become evident at the festival, if everybody involved thinks it should.
