the exhibition

From Dream Machines to Altered States of Paint, DCA has set out to present perceptual art that is bold, open, magical and meaningful. With Kill Your Timid Notion the venue journeys further to explore the borders between sound and vision. Arika and DCA bring you this year's installment and we promise retinal and aural adventures firstly as an exhibition featuring Paul Sharits and Kjell Bjørgeengen and then as a festival of sensory experiments in sound, film, performance, endurance, conversation and collaboration.

Do not adjust your set, set your course for KYTN. With channels of flickering light produced to and from sound, Kjell Bjørgeengen works collaboratively with aural innovators to make complex installations that are everything and nothing, that oscillate wildly before your TV eyes. Paul Sharits began as a painter but went further in search of communicating his ideas. Epileptic Seizure Comparison (1976) is perhaps his most succesful statement and we invite you to immerse yourself in this intense chamber of light and dark. With the light we can dream.

Flicker is a genre in art all by itself. Flicker is brightness, contrast, volume, power.

Please be aware that pulsating and flickering light is used in this exhibition.
