About the event

Join WestGAP for their Community Gala! A day for EVERYONE in Cessnock and beyond, to meet, eat, have fun, and find out about great local groups and activities.

All day long we'll fill Kinning Park Complex with 2 jam-packed floors of FREE activities for all ages. Including a free (or donation-based) community meal, and a party with live music and dancing.

WestGAP is an anti-poverty community group based in Cessnock. We've decided to organise this event to bring the local community together, raise awareness of WestGAP and other groups who are fighting poverty in all its forms!

Bring your kids, cousins, grannies, lovers, friends, flatmates and neighbours to Kinning Park Complex Community Centre, for 2 floors of free, fun and creative activities, food and information.

At 6pm there'll be a donation based community meal provided by the amazing Soul Food Sisters and from 8pm we'll hit the dance-floor with live music and a bar to raise money for WestGAP's work in the community.

  • Fun activities for kids and adults: including bouncy castle, arts & crafts, workshops, amazing food and live music to dance to!
  • Meet local groups fighting austerity, welfare reform and the racist immigration system.
  • Free entry to all events!

WestGAP is an anti-poverty community group based in Cessnock. We provide practical advice and support to those in the benefits system; including help with benefits applications and appealing against sanctions, cuts and bad decisions. We are entirely volunteer run, and aim to work with local groups to change the system that puts so many people in poverty.

This event is being resourced by and co-organised with Arika, an arts organisation working in Edinburgh, Glasgow and beyond. Arika are funded by Creative Scotland.

We will update this page as we confirm the range of activities, local groups and entertainment on offer.
