ARTISTS

Three short performances involving social exchange (jumpers, hats, glasses…) and singing (ballads)

What we wrote about it at the time: Who: Glaswegian visual and performance artist who sets up rules, binds, procedures and open scripts to set off unpredictable performance situations. He thinks about the wrench as much as the monkey, as it were: or at least he fashions a new wrench each time he needs to use one…

What: Three short performances involving social exchange (jumpers, hats, glasses…) and singing (ballads).

Why: It's the creation of a social space and interaction, a kind of allegorical exchange more in line with what folk music is at it's heart than any homogenised appeal to authenticity or clichéd, stylistic and empty gestures…charming, persuasive but with a deep fidelity to folk.

Perforners: Steven Anderson, Elena Piras, Martin O'Connor
