Jazkamer

EVENT

14 Oct 2006
The Arches, Glasgow

A black hole of dense heaviosity, full of slow motion riffage, tectonic pummel and massive planet destroying rock. Massively loud and perplexingly, narcoticizingly HEAVY, with huge slabs of downtuned guitars and rumblingly hypnotic double kick drumming. John Hegre and Lasse Marhaug have been working together for years. Their collaborative project Jazkamer has recently swollen to a six piece, and now includes an extended cabal of black metal and grind core heads from seriously heavy bands including Enslaved, Manngard, Golden Serenades and Nash Kontroll.

What we said at the time…

John Hegre and Lasse Marhaug have been working together, as well as collaborating with a clutch of the coolest names in Noise music, for years, with some pretty stunning results. Their collaborative project Jazkamer has recently swollen to a six piece, and now includes an extended cabal of black metal and grind core heads from seriously heavy bands including Enslaved, Manngard, Golden Serenades and Nash Kontroll. The resulting  album from earlier this year is phenomenal; a black hole of dense heaviosity, full of slow motion riffage, tectonic pummel and massive planet destroying rock. I don’t know how else to describe it, it’s just massively loud and perplexingly, narcoticizingly HEAVY, with huge slabs of downtuned guitars and rumblingly hypnotic double kick drumming. It’s a monster.

Despite lots of offers, this is the first time the line-up have played live; they thought Instal was the right kind of place to deliver the metal-noise meltdown spectacle we’re all looking for.
