Moor Mother

Apocalypse has come and gone. We’re just grubbing in the ashes.
– Samuel R. Delany, Dhalgren

The end is already over. – the back of Moor Mother’s jacket

Moor Mother is a Philadelphian housing activist and black quantum futurist whose music helps you experience the connection between a DIY basement gig of maroon rap shanties and haunted punk-noise, and the time visionary Black Arts poet Sonia Sanchez testifed during Mumia Abu-Jamal’s trial. She reminds us of Sonia talking about how she became this woman with razor blades between their teeth. She takes unexpressed thoughts and disgusts and desires and flings them against the long silence of history.
